How To Make Arrows For Decoration?

To make the arrow decorations yourself, follow the given process using the simplest materials available.

Materials

  • Wooden dowels (approx. ¼-inch to ½-inch in diameter)
  • Craft paint (various colors of your choice)
    Paintbrushes
  • Felt or sturdy paper for the arrow fletching (feathers)
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic Sealer (optional)
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Pencil
  • Craft Knife
  • Sandpaper

Making

  1. Start by marking the wooden dowels to your desired length (e.g., 12 inches, 18 inches). Use a craft knife to cut the dowels at the marked spots and sandpaper to smoothen the edges of the cut dowels.
  2. Choose your desired craft paint color and apply it to the dowel shaft. You may also do pattern stripes or leave the dowel unpainted for a more natural look. Let the dowels dry completely after painting.
Once dry, apply an acrylic sealer if you want a glossier finish.
  3. Draw and cut out your desired feather shape from the felt or paper. You will need three pieces for each arrow. If desired, paint the fletching to match or contrast the arrow shaft.
  4. Apply hot glue to the edge of one of the fletchings. Press it to the top end of the dowel. Fill in the gaps with the other two fletchings, similarly attaching them to the first. Ensure they're evenly spaced for a balanced look.
  5. Draw and cut out an arrowhead shape from the felt or paper. Glue the shaped arrowhead to the other end of the dowel. Let the glue dry completely, and voila! Your decorative arrow is ready.

The DIY Arrow Wall Decor is an enjoyable and easy way to make any wall in your home look better. This project focuses on a wooden arrow wall decoration you can make in any size. It is not only nice to look at but also shows your personal style. The arrow has a special beachy and old-fashioned appearance because of a special painting method. The feeling of the decoration is laid-back and interesting, making your home look special.

Making the DIY Arrow Wall Decor is easy and fast. First, decide how big you want your arrow and cut your wood to match this size. Make sure to cut the wood pieces at an angle to make the arrow points. Next, put these pieces together to form your arrow.

To give the arrow an old, rustic look, paint it using an Oil-Based Stain and water-based Chalk Paint. Once you've finished painting and the paint has dried, you can put your arrow on the wall. Using velcro tape for this will ensure it sticks well but is also easy to take down when needed. The best part of this project is that it's cheap, especially if you already have some spare wood.

Rustic Painted Arrows Monthly DIY Challenge

Rustic Painted Arrows Monthly DIY Challenge Save

This DIY Rustic Painted Arrows project is an easy and affordable way to make your home decor.

Start by cutting thin plywood or craft wood into 16-inch pieces. Apply a coat of General Finishes "Java" gel stain on the wood. Once that's done, draw arrows on the boards using chalk paint. Don't worry about the drawing is perfect, as the next step, sanding the painted arrows with sandpaper, will hide any minor mistakes and add a distressed look. Lastly, apply a layer of clear wax to seal the arrows. If you're impatient and don't wait for the stain to fully dry before sealing, the white paint will get a slightly brown tinge, which adds to the rustic look.

Materials

  • Thin plywood or craft wood
  • General Finishes “Java” gel stain
  • Annie Sloan “Old White” chalk paint
  • Sandpaper
  • Clear wax
